I don’t get why the joggers always use the street. I run a good four miles in the evenings and i have never felt the need to run on the street.

Meh, they say pavement is softer on your feet , and joggers do love that road even if it’s predominantly concrete . The issue in some segments is that it doesn’t have a sidewalk, so they go on the street, but clearly this man just wanted to tell the world to fuck itself.

I work on a military base where the federal civilian employees are given an hour a day payed to exercise. There are sidewalks everywhere, but they will walk three wide on the roadway and not move out of the way no matter how many cars back up behind them.

That seems very dangerous.....
I can understand joggers using the asphalt on a quiet neighborhood road, but that’s a four lane neighborhood throughway connecting the neighborhood to two maj or avenues.

I commented about this before. It usually stems from 3 reasons.
1 : It’s easier to be seen on the street. This is especially true at intersections. Most drivers blow through the crosswalk/stop line and stop closer to the road. If I’m in the street, it gives me an extra 10 feet to react or the driver to see me.
2
: Sidewalks generally suck. There are dips, angles, cracks, walkers, dogs, etc. Roads are generally flat and have a better surface to run on. Also, there are not always sidewalks or they start and stop randomly.
3: There is enough room for both of us. If there wasn’t, I wouldn’t be on the street. If you can pass a bike and give the required 3 feet, you can pass a runner that is going the opposite direction, can move out of the way quicker than a bike, and generally takes up less room.
Share the road and pay attention. The only time there is an issue is from an inattentive driver that sees a pedestrian in the road and panics because they were not paying attention and were startled.

I dont like being on foot anywhere that cars go at any times, it always sketches me out. The people who just wander down their street in the evenings always perplex me. I see it on my drive home through the canyons all the time. And a few of them have the audacity to shout at you for driving on “their street”. I am obeying the damn laws and I pass people slowly. Plus its a public street so they can fuck right off. People like that make me wish for a straight piped V8 so that I can drive by at 3am to ruffle their feathers more.

This is an Air Force base with 25,000 employees. When going through orientation they spent almost as much time pounding the idea that pedestrians can walk whenever and wherever they want as they did rules about driving on the flight line.

It’s all inside. If they leave the base they can’t get payed for that hour.
They actually put in walking paths and very few people use them.
